What the hour covers

Gone are the days when homeschooling meant isolated learning at a kitchen table after farming chores, or requiring a single parent to be an expert in every subject including calculus, chemistry, world literature and foreign languages. Instead, modern homeschooling is a collaborative journey that gives parents the freedom to combine intentional learning at home with qualified instructors, athletics, and academic co-ops that share the load and allow them to be a part of a supportive community.

Shannon Palmer, Director of Journey Christian Academy, leads each session.

It begins with the basics: what homeschooling is, how families approach it, and what Virginia requires. Then it introduces Journey Christian Academy: how the program works, who it serves, and what comes next.

Want a head start? Our guide to homeschooling in Virginia covers why families choose it, what the law requires, and how to file your Notice of Intent. Questions before then? Contact us.
